Hydroelectric facilities are many and varied, depending on geographical location, the type of water course, water head, the nature of the dam and its locationin relation to the power plant.
High head power plant
Hydroelectric power station operating on a high head of water are generally located at high altitudes. They take advantage of the great difference of level between the dam which holds back the water and the plant where electricity is generated.
